This is a 2-part workshop, designed for those who are either completely new to knitting, or who would like a refresher on basic techniques.
All materials and tools will be provided at the first session, you will be expected to bring these with you to the second workshop. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the afternoon.
£54 for both weeks – please contact us if you only wish to attend one of the sessions.
Part 1 covers casting on, the basic knit and purl stitch, popular stitch patterns, simple increases and decreases, binding off, and some discussion on common mistakes and choosing your yarn.
At the end of this workshop you will have all the knowledge you need to knit the swatches required for your wrist warmers. You will need to bring your knitted swatches back for Part 2.
Part 2 begins by focusing on finishing a piece of knitting. With your knitted swatches from Part 1, you will be taught to seam different stitch patterns and weave in ends, before being given some time to finish off your wrist warmers.
The rest of the workshop will cover blocking, alternative cast-on methods, alternative increases/decreases, knitting a lace pattern, fixing common problems, methods for joining yarn and a basic introduction to understanding knitting patterns.
*For those attending Part 2 only:
You must be familiar with the long-tail method of casting on, the knit and purl stitch as well as switching between the two stitches, KFB (knit front and back) increase, K2tog/P2tog (knit two together/purl two together) decrease and binding off – all covered in Part 1
Please bring two knitted pieces measuring 34sts x 6in (15cm) each, in any pattern of your choice
